Program Overview:
The theme of Bio Conference 2014 was “Biomass energy & Natural Products”. The one day conference covered discussion on various sectors of biotechnology, including Bioenergy, Industrial Microbiology, and Natural Products. These fields were dealt through two key note speakers, eight invited speakers from renowned universities and research centers, twelve oral presentations and twenty poster presentations. The program was attended by around 200 guests and participants. The Chief Guest of the program was Prof. Dr. Ram Kantha Makaju, Vice Chancellor, Kathmandu University.

2) Biofuel Conference 2013 (One day conference on bioethanol and biodiesel)

Program Overview:
The conference was divided into three sessions; two oral presentations and one poster session. Total participants including guests were around three hundred from different sectors of life including professors, academicians, environmentalists, government officials,
students from colleges and universities, and aspiring researchers.
Mr. Prajwal Rajbhandari, Vice President of RIBB welcomed all our distinguished guests and participants. This was followed by Prof. Janardan Lamichhane, President at RIBB describing the main objectives and goal of the conference. Prof. Suresh Raj Sharma, Founder Vice Chancellor of Kathmandu University (KU) and Prof. Tika B. Karki, H.O.D, Dept. Biotechnology, KU gave their guest addresses. The opening ceremony was concluded by giving key note speech on biofuel, scope and areas from Ms. Jarina Joshi, Lecturer, Central Dept. Biotechnology, Tribhuvan University.
Outcomes:
- Awareness among university students regarding biofuel, their importance and scope in
the national context. - Enthusiastic participation from students (more than targeted) making the conference a
huge success. - Some wonderful paper and poster presentations from university students and graduates
based on the theme of the conference. - Motivation from some top echelon of scientists, academicians and experts associated
with renewable energy.
