Learning Lab: Opening Doors to Exploration
The Learning Lab at RIBB is a space designed to spark curiosity and encourage hands-on engagement with science. It houses a growing collection of portable educational materials and small scientific instruments that are used to bring interactive learning experiences directly to students. These materials support workshops delivered in schools across Nepal through the Engage Nepal with Science (ENwS) initiative, helping make science education more fun, accessible, and connected to real-world research.
By making science tangible, interactive and accessible, the Learning Lab nurtures early scientific thinking and builds a foundation of curiosity that can inspire future innovators.
While the Learning Lab primarily serves as a resource hub for school-based outreach, it also offers a glimpse into the professional world of science. Students who visit RIBB may get the chance to explore how science happens in a real lab setting and try out simple activities that connect theory to practice. In the future, the Learning Lab hopes to expand its reach through open-door events and public science days, creating more opportunities for communities to engage with science in an approachable and enjoyable way.
The Learning Lab is also instrumental in organizing the Nepal Science Week a biannual event that takes science directly to the underserved regions of Nepal. In collaboration with national and international institutes, our team travels to different locations to conduct two full days of workshops at local schools, followed by a science festival on the final day. The festival includes various science stalls, live demonstrations, and an-open door concept, where communities and schools are invited to experience science hands-on.
