Summer Internship
We provide 4 weeks internship to undergraduate students studying biotechnology from different colleges and universities here in Nepal. Four weeks internship includes hands on training, project work, presentation, report writing, group discussion etc. Besides this, we also provide 3 months research internships where recent graduates are involved in funded research projects.
B.Tech students (Mr. Yogesh Joshi, Ms. Archana Yadav and Mr. Sagar Rayamajhi) from Department of Biotechnology, Kathmandu University completed their one month internship in our lab.
M.Tech student (Mr. Prasodhan Niraula) from Department of Biotechnology, Kathmandu University completed his one month internship in our lab.
B.Tech students (Ms. Rishika Giri and Ms. Anisha Thapa) from Department of Biotechnology, Kathmandu University completed their 4 weeks internship in biodiesel project in our lab.
B.Tech student (Ms. Rista Shrestha) from Hong Kong Polytechnic University completed her 4 weeks internship in Industrial Microbiology lab in our institute.
B.Tech student (Mr. Aayush Kar) from D. Y. Patil Deemed to be University, India completed his 8 weeks internship in our institute.
B.Sc. student (Ms. Swechha Rimal) from Trichandra College, Tribhuvan University completed a one week internship at Bioenergy Lab.
B.Tech students (Mr. Samir Kuinkel, Ms. Binita Pokharel, Ms. Bipasana Shakya, Mr. Aakash Pandey and Mr. Biond Pokharel) from Department of Biotechnology, Kathmandu University completed their one month internship in our lab.

B.Tech student (Ms. Pramila Ramtel) from Kathmandu University completed her 4 weeks internship in Bioenergy Lab at our institute.
B.Sc. Biochemistry student (Mr. Swaraj Thaman) from Ramapo College of New Jersey, USA completed a 6 weeks internship at our institute.
Research Thesis
We provide thesis grant support to MS Biotechnology students from different colleges and universities here in Nepal. Following are the list of thesis grant support we provided until now
1) M.Tech student Ms. Nirma Basnet, Department of Biotechnology, Kathmandu University completed her thesis work on “Optimization of bioethanol production from cheese whey using immobilized lactose assimilating yeast strains.” under supervision of Prof. Janardan Lamichhane funded by RenewableNepal Programme, Kathmandu University.
4) M.Sc student Mr. Mukesh Thapa, Central Department of Biotechnology, Tribhuvan
University completed his thesis on “Comparative study between oral microflora isolated from rural medical camps and urban medical clinics” under the supervision of Prof. Rajani Malla and Dr. Hari Datta Bhattarai funded by TWAS.
7) B.Tech students (Ms. Neelam Shrestha, Ms. Roma Maharjan and Ms. Rukusha Maharjan) from Kantipur Valley College completed their thesis on “Identification of bioactive natural products from Streptomyces sp. KTM-6 isolated from different soil types of Nepal.” under the supervision of Mr. Prajwal Rajbhandari and Dr. Anaya Pokhrel.
2) M.Tech student Mr. Prasodhan Niraula, Department of Biotechnology, Kathmandu University completed his thesis on “Identification of antibiotic-producing Streptomyces Strains from
different regions of Nepal: Morphological, Biochemical and Molecular Studies” under the supervision of Prof. Janardan Lamichhane and Dr. Sushila Maharjan funded by TWAS.
5) B.Tech students (Ms. Esa Gurung, Ms. Jyoti Basnet, and Ms. Aarzu Thapa) from Kantipur Valley College completed their thesis on “Isolation and characterization of soil bacteria (Streptomyces spp.) as a source of novel bioactive metabolites from different locations of Kathmandu.” under supervision of Mr. Sagar Atri and Mr. Prajwal Rajbhandari.
8) B.Tech students (Mr. Gaurav Gajurel, Ms. Krisha Pokharel, and Uddesh Dangol) from Kantipur Valley College completed their thesis on “Green synthesis of silver nanoparticle using a crude extract of Streptomyces Sp. KTM-13.” under supervision of Mr. Prajwal Rajbhandari and Dr. Bipin S. Baral.
3) M.Sc student Mr. Nirmal Panthi, Central Department of Biotechnology, Tribhuvan University completed his thesis on “Molecular and biochemical characterization of oral microflora isolated from various regions of Nepal” under supervision of Prof. Rajani Malla and Dr. Hari Datta Bhattarai funded by TWAS.
6) B.Tech students (Mr. Sanjeev Tamang, Mr. Cloud Rai, and Mr. Aadarsh Rai) from Kantipur Valley College completed their thesis on “Comparative study of biodiesel production from Jatropha curcas and waste cooking oil as a substitute for fossil (mineral diesel) in Nepal.” under supervision of Mr. Sagar Atri and Mr. Prajwal Rajbhandari.
9) B.Tech students (Mr. Anjan Bhattarai, Ms. Menuka Gurung, Ms. Rimmi Jha and Ms. Rita Majhi) from Kantipur Valley College completed their thesis on “Investigation of altitudinal
effect on bioactivities of different medically important plant species of Nepal.” under supervision of Mr. Prajwal Rajbhandari.
