Microbiology Lab: Exploring the World of Microbial Diversity
Established in 2011, the Microbiology Lab serves as the heart of our department’s exploration of microbial diversity and its potential applications. Equipped to isolate, culture, and study microorganisms from various ecological and cultural niches, the lab focuses on investigating microbial communities in traditional fermented foods, dairy products, and unique environments across Nepal. By employing recent molecular techniques and strong international collaborations for metabolomics, and metagenomics, the lab aims to uncover beneficial microbes that contribute to food safety, nutrition, and novel biotechnological solutions.
In today’s rapidly advancing scientific landscape, exploring and discovering novel microbial strains is key to unlocking new possibilities. Our microbiology lab plays a pivotal role in uncovering beneficial microbes, exploring their impact on food safety, health, and sustainable solutions, while contributing to novel biotechnological advancements.
Our lab is fully equipped with advanced instruments for microbiology and molecular biology research, including autoclaves, incubators, PCR machines, gel electrophoresis systems, microscopes, and more. These resources enable us to conduct comprehensive microbial studies, allowing us to generate valuable insights that drive research and innovation in diverse scientific fields.
