Mr. Rajbhandari, who hails from Sarlahi, Nepal, obtained his master's degree in Biotechnology in 2010 through a sandwich program involving Kathmandu University (KU) in Nepal and the Institute of Biomolecule Reconstruction (iBR) at Sun Moon University in South Korea. He initially served as the founding Vice President for six and a half years before becoming the President in January 2018 at the Research Institute for Bioscience and Biotechnology in Nepal. Among his accolades are the Nepal Vidya Bhushan "Kha" (2011), the National Energy Globe Award (2015), and the Elsevier Foundation Green and Sustainable Chemistry Challenge (2018). His research focuses on natural preservatives, traditional fermented food systems, and gut microbiome. In addition to his research, he enjoys engaging with local communities through public engagement programs related to food microbiology and probiotics.
