Aatish Mali

Mr. Aatish Mali has been working as a research assistant at Research Institute for Bioscience and Biotechnology (RIBB) since September 2019 on a project "Value addition of Citrus fruit peels" funded by OWSD. He completed his B.Tech Biotechnology from Kantipur Valley College (KVC), Lalitpur, Nepal. During undergraduate his thesis work was on “Molecular characterization of spoilage microbes from spoiled fruits of Kathmandu”. Currently his work is mainly focused on observing the variation in composition of essential oil between citrus fruits from different altitudes of Nepal.

  • Bacterial genomic DNA extraction.
  • Molecular characterization of various bacteria and fungi.
  • Preparation of plant extract and its test as a natural preservative
  • Essential oil extraction.
  • Phytochemical analysis: TPC, TFC and Antioxidant tests
  • Research Assistant (September 2019–Present)
    1. Value addition of citrus fruit peels by essential oil production.
    2. Analyzed various components on Essential oil.
  • Research Intern (Feb 2018-Aug 2019 )
    1. Demonstrated activity of green extracts on the prevention of fruit spoilage.
    2. Molecular characterization of spoilage microbes and Antimicrobial activity of guava leaves extract on isolates.
